Upgrades to the outdoor areas at Aquamoves, incorporating a new beach entry leisure pool, Splash Park and features and associated landscaping including sandy beach area, barbecues and shade will maintain Aquamoves as an important community facility.
The new Splash Park and Beach will provide many benefits for people with disabilities.
Zero water depth means Aquamoves' PVC wheelchairs can be utilised allowing disabled people to participate in almost all activities and share the same experiences on the deck as an able-bodied person.
The movement, running water and sand provide stimulus for those with sight and hearing disabilities as well as intellectual disabilities.
Anecdotal evidence suggests many of the culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Greater Shepparton have not had significant interaction with water and are unable to swim.
The zero depth Splash Park will provide a non threatening environment for these communities to begin to confidently participate in many of the summer activities Australians take for granted and also pave the way for participation in other programs such as learn to swim which have wider health and community benefits.
The Splash Park will provide an additional safe and exciting facility encouraging families to participate in recreational activities together.
The new outdoor development will be open daily 9am-9pm throughout the school holidays.
