Providing a new direction in the delivery of arts education in the Hume region, Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) partnered with Numurkah Primary School to deliver a 20 week ceramic art project during semester 2. SAM education staff and renowned artists have worked with Numurkah teachers to inspire creative ideas in art making and skills development while promoting social engagement and personal learning through the arts.

Selected Little Treasures from each student will be on display at the Launch Party of Shepparton Art Museum on Saturday 18 February 2012 until April 2012. With the reopening of the Art Museum students will be further encouraged to run some of their own workshops and exhibition tours for the general public. A Little Treasures exhibition catalogue will also be published.

The Little Treasures: Exploring Ourselves Through Clay program, was funded through Arts Victoria's, Education Partnerships: Extended School Residencies program. It is one of seven successful arts based proposals to receive funding and support through this program in 2011.

The club runs an annual Fruit Salad Day on the third Saturday in February, starting at 7am till sold - approx 1pm.

Up to 60 tonnes of fruit and vegetable are sold in bulk at an average of between 50% to 70% below wholesale prices. Most of the fruit is donated by local growers.

Included products are as follows:

A wonderful tribute to an Australian star...June Bronhill. This brand new show celebrates the fascinating life of June Bronhill. The production is packed with hit songs as performed by June throughout her illustrious career.

June was Also the pioneer of Morning Music in Australia having been the first artist to perform and sellout two Melbourne Concert Hall performances in 1984, when her then friend Betty Pounder rang her ask if she would be interested in performing in a trial 11am concert....It was a resounding success and Morning Melodies was born.

Promac Productions has written essentially the June Bronhill Story..from her early days in Broken Hill (hence Bronhill) to her stellar career in Europe, UK and Australia. Its a fascinating story narration of a young girl from Broken Hill travelling overseas, after her entire town had raised funds to get her there, to her making her debut for the Saddlers Wells Opera Company in London in Marriage of Figaro to becoming an overnight sensation for her portrayal as Maria in The Sound Of Music on Londons Westend and subsequently then triumphantly in Australia.

But we all know that it was Lehars The Merry Widow that catapulted June right around the world and the beautiful "Vilia" was quickly dubbed "Junes Tune".

Shepparton Central Rotary is bringing a very special exhibition of internationally and locally renowned artists including prints by Degas, Norman Lindsay and Salvador Dali and sculpture by Frederick Remmington to La Trobe University. 

For a very short time experience the wonders of the greats alongside the wonders of some local greats too.  The exhibition will be able to be viewd at times when festival events are being held at La Trobe University - until 12 March.

A new incarnation for the event previously known as Art in the Park.  The Maude Street Mall will come alive with vibrant and colourful art and crafts.  Local artists and craftsmen will have their original artworks on display and for sale at studio prices.

This show remains as a hands-on working demonstration of many different woodworking skills.  A large display of lathe turned articles, general woodware and fine furniture as well as milled timber will be available for viewing and purchasing.

The McIntosh Centre comes alive to the creativity of young musicians, artists and performers of the Goulburn Valley.  Come and get into the brave new world of local photographers and other artists while you experience the culinary explorations and mocktails of the master chef apprentices.  Witness the positive fire power of the next generation contributing towards a better community.

The SheppARTon Festival is delighted to include the spectacular CFA Torchlight Procession as a major event within the festival program.  This is a competition event of the CFA Games taking place over the festival weekend.

It commences at Deakin Reserve and involves over 1700 CFA volunteers in 72 brigades marching through town holding live flame torches.

Each brigade takes a salute from the CFA Chief Officer as they turn from Maude into Fryers Street.  The march concludes at the Showgrounds where the festival will present a spectacular welcome to the brave volunteers of our CFA.

These lantern making workshops are designed to give children a chance to make bamboo and paper mache lanterns for the Twilight Festival.  These workshops encourage children to learn about and participate in the festival's Brave Voices theme.  The lanterns will be made using bamboo, tape, PVA glue, wire, grease proof paper and battery lit candles.  They will then be decorated using the word 'brave' in different languages to represent the enlightenment of the brave who stand forward to help others.

These lanterns will be used to decorate the Showgrounds during the Twilight Festival and as part of a lantern parade in the Brave Young Voices Performance.  Children present at the 10.00am workshop will be encouraged to also participate in the choir workshop at 11.00am to learn the Brave Young Voices song.

Please note: These workshops are suitable for children of all abilities aged 6-16 and include all materials.  It is recommended participants in these workshops wear a smock or clothing suitable for working with glue and paint.  Children may keep the lanterns at the conclusion of the performance on the Saturday night.  It is not compulsory for children who have made lanterns to take part in the community performance.

The BIG event for the Festival is always the Twilight Festival – a huge community celebration. As always, there will be a wide selection of entertainment, foods, local wines, as well as a community created spectacular to absorb and inspire the whole family.

In 2012, we bring back the multicultural village with an extravaganza of world experiences and a fine program of local cultrual entertainment.  Roving entertainers will keep the crowd amused and on the main stage some truly great local and national acts such as the Yarra Gospel and Sol Nation will lift your spirits.

The evening will be highlighted by the CFA Torch Parade welcome and the Brave Voices Community Performances with awe inspiring sculptures, light show, music, choir songs and fireworks.

The Brave Young Voices will kick off at 8:30pm with a children’s lantern parade and choir coming together for your enjoyment. Then, at 9:45pm, as the State Fire Brigade Torchlight Procession arrives at the Showgrounds, the Brave Voices Community performance will greet them with sculptures, fire spitters and a mass community choir singing the festival theme song ‘You” by Cindy Archer. The spectacular performance will be a culmination of workshops and rehearsals by a diverse cross section of the local community. Fireworks will finish off the night and Sol Nation will play out the evening with dance music for all to enjoy.

In keeping with the Castlemaine theme for all sources of things literary and poetic, Ross Donlon is the 2012 Shepparton Festival poet.

Ross has just returned from reading at the prestigious Wenlock Poetry Festival in the UK after winning their competition, which was judged by the English Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy. While he was in Europe he completed a residence in Norway and worked in Tuscany, Italy. We are honoured and privileged to have Ross with us before he heads off to Ireland to take up another residency there in 2012.

Ross has a number of published works and has won numerous awards. He is also an accomplished and generous teacher or poetry as well as an entertaining speaker. If you have never been to a Poet's Breakfast before consider going to this one. You will not be disappointed.

The Connection will supply us with a delicious breakfast before Ross speaks about writing poetry and answers questions from the audience.

Spirit is a wild mustang in the wild west who encounters humans but refuses to be broken.  He develops two special but very different relationships with a white man - an army officer who thinks he can break the horse as he can tame the west - and a yound Lakota Indian who also thinks he can tame the horse, but realises that he and the horse are both meant to be free.

SheppARTon Festival will play host to the Australian premiere of a new play, 'Dare to be Faceless', performed by a talented local cast.

Originally commissioned by the iconic La Mama Theatre, Dare to be Faceless examines the lives of refugees in Australia bringing the reality of their experiences to the stage in light of prevalent attitudes in our society to feeling for others and doing something about it.  Honest, challenging and also hopeful, Dare to be Faceless encourages its audience to seek more knowledge, understand the journey of others and have an opinion that is informed and contributes to a better understanding of and to the lives of others.

 Playwright Simon Tengende is a writer, director, performer and community cultural development practitioner originally from Zimbabwe. Whilst most of his work is dedicated to exploring the political realities of life in modern Zimbabwe, he also has a keen interest in the impact of the Australian society on African migrants.

Dare to be Faceless is a collaborative project of Artistic Merit for VicHealth's Arts About Us program, SheppARTon Festival, Riverlinks and La Mama.

Before television, the highlight of the entertainment week was the Sunday night radio play. Distinguished actors dressed in evening clothes would perform adaptations of  recent movies, novels or stage plays live in front of an audience.

A group of Melbourne actors have recreated those days using recently rediscovered radio scripts by Agatha Christie. The Lux Radio Theatre actors play a wide range of roles, deliver the soap commercials and perform the live sound effects.  Since the show premiered at Hamer Hall at the Victorian Arts Centre it has toured widely including the Castlemaine, Noosa and Bright festivals.

Based in a dusty room in an old apartment building in New York City in 1912 -13, Anna, an Italian seamstress and Henry, a Jewish meatpacker, try to overcome the hardship in their lives – caught up in the jazzy energy of a newly electrified Manhattan.  Henry, a migrant from Poland, is relentless, even obsessive in his dream to create a great ballroom dancing partnership.  In the process, Anna evolves from a shy, proper, traditional girl into a liberated, self-realised woman.  Anna’s evolution is one of the great coming of age stories in theatrical drama.

Me and My Shadow is presented in the form of a visual poem for children. The show tells its story using the languages of paper, light, shadow, colour, water, music, sound and words. Three women are now trapped in the house - a mother and her two estranged daughters; one who takes care of her, one who has been away for twenty years. While escaping the house of one of his conquests, the virtuous Donna Anna, Don Giovanni is caught by her father the Commendatore and is forced to fight his way out. Donna Anna is devastated her beloved father is dead and her masked attacker is still at large.

Andrew Horabin is a state and national award-winning singer/songwriter with a one man comedy musical that asks, What’s a man gotta do to be a man in your town? In his hilarious show, Andrew uses comedy, song and storytelling to explore some of the issues of masculinity - sex, work, marriage, mateship, intimacy, fathering, feelings, booze, homophobia and attachments to motor vehicles.

Our story begins when Adam's Buck's Party collides with Lucy's Hens in the street.  Lucy declares that he'll never grow up. Adam protests. She gives him 24 hours to prove he's a man - or the wedding's off! Muzza and Gazza are not much help. They tell him she's just a sheila and sheilas change their minds. But she's not changing it back. And the hour of the wedding is fast approaching, leaving Adam asking "What's a man gotta do to be a man?"

With no formal initiation or rites of passage, these three young blokes must forge their own path into manhood. The audience helps, with their own ideas of how to become a man, but will it be enough? How lost will they get on the journey? What risks do they take in trying to initiate themselves? And will they make it back in time?

A weekend of swiming, riding and running for the whole family!

Shepparton Triathlon Club will again be putting on the Campbell's Ironman 70.3 triathlon as part of a weekend of events for the whole family.

Entries open on 30th January 2012 for this years event which is sure to be another great day. Last year saw 1200 athletes take on the challenge of the 1.9km swim, 90.1km ride and 21.1km run in and around Kialla Lakes estate and Shepparton.

Bring the family down for McDonalds Kids events as well as the Brooks Fun Run and Open Water Swim on the Saturday and then the main event starts at 7am on Sunday.

The show recreates the atmosphere, looks and soaring harmonies  of The Everly Brothers,  and features just some of the  750 songs that THE EVERLY BROTHERS recorded, - including many of their hits such as - Walk Right Back, Cathy’s Clown, Dream, Claudette,  Cryin’ in the rain, Bye  Bye Love, Love Hurts and Wake Up Little Susie. You will also hear some of their country recordings, rock and roll songs, and of course their beautiful ballads.
