Riverlinks Box Office (03) 5832 9511

A wonderful tribute to an Australian star...June Bronhill. This brand new show celebrates the fascinating life of June Bronhill. The production is packed with hit songs as performed by June throughout her illustrious career.

June was Also the pioneer of Morning Music in Australia having been the first artist to perform and sellout two Melbourne Concert Hall performances in 1984, when her then friend Betty Pounder rang her ask if she would be interested in performing in a trial 11am concert....It was a resounding success and Morning Melodies was born.

Promac Productions has written essentially the June Bronhill Story..from her early days in Broken Hill (hence Bronhill) to her stellar career in Europe, UK and Australia. Its a fascinating story narration of a young girl from Broken Hill travelling overseas, after her entire town had raised funds to get her there, to her making her debut for the Saddlers Wells Opera Company in London in Marriage of Figaro to becoming an overnight sensation for her portrayal as Maria in The Sound Of Music on Londons Westend and subsequently then triumphantly in Australia.

But we all know that it was Lehars The Merry Widow that catapulted June right around the world and the beautiful "Vilia" was quickly dubbed "Junes Tune".

"Namatjira" by Scott Rankin Venue: Westside Performing Arts Centre, Echuca Road, Mooroopna
Contact Details:

Riverlinks Box Office (03) 5832 9511

Namatjira is a groundbreaking new Australian work by Scott Rankin starring Trevor Jamieson and Derik Lynch, who bring us the deeply moving story of Albert Namatjira, a journey that is at turns deeply compelling and hilarious. The rich watercolours of Namatjira’s story are transformed into a momentous theatrical event.

Utilising Jamieson's elegant physicality, and the music of internationally renowned Genevieve Lacey, this story captures the intense beauty, depth, opportunism, mateship and injustice that has shaped our country. Namatjira is more than a night at the theatre; this is an experience of art, live on stage. Before our eyes, the grandchildren of Albert Namatjira - third generation watercolour artists - assist with the re-telling of his life, filling the stage with a huge landscape drawing of their desert country.
Albert Namatjira's achingly beautiful watercolours introduced the lounge rooms of Australian suburbia to the exquisite beauty of our central desert heartland. In a similar way, this sweeping narrative acts as a window through which we can see ourselves, and our nation, as clearly as the landscapes he gave to us.

“We rose to applaud ‘Namatjira’ without hesitation on opening night, brought to our feet by this generous and enlightening production” The Sydney Morning Herald, 2010

'Syncopation' is a smash-hit fusion of comedy, drama, romance and ballroom dancing.

Syncopation by Allan Knee tells the story of Henry and Anna who bridge a cultural divide and breach social constraints in their attempt to create a brilliant partnership.  The challenge is profound.  The journey is powerful, moving, heartbreaking and uplifting.

Based in a dusty room in an old apartment building in New York City in 1912 -13, Anna, an Italian seamstress and Henry, a Jewish meatpacker, try to overcome the hardship in their lives – caught up in the jazzy energy of a newly electrified Manhattan.  Henry, a migrant from Poland, is relentless, even obsessive in his dream to create a great ballroom dancing partnership.  In the process, Anna evolves from a shy, proper, traditional girl into a liberated, self-realised woman.  Anna’s evolution is one of the great coming of age stories in theatrical drama.

An entire world and every fascinating nuance of relationship dynamics is created and explored with a beautifully simple set, two actors, wonderful choreography and movement, eloquent lighting, superb direction and the wonderful music of Irving Berlin, Scott Joplin and George Gershwin.  Syncopation, which means “rhythm accented on the off-beat”, shows how differences of upbringing and cultural backgrounds can flourish together.  Syncopation captures your heart and makes you think about what it truly means to be a partner.

CIRCA is a thoroughly new kind of circus: daring, breathtaking, and cheeky. From amazing acrobatics and powerful solos to a hauntingly beautiful finale, CIRCA combines beauty, formidable circus skills and an immersive use of sound, light and projection.

Over 75 intense minutes, the performers move from highly connected acrobatic and tumbling sequences, through fast-paced intricate scenes through to the hauntingly beautiful closing scenes of by the light of stars of stars that are no longer... Circa’s signature style – combining poetic physical beauty, extraordinary circus skills and an immersive use of sound, light and projection.

Circa causes beauty. It makes a kind of physical poetry from the languages of Circus.  Where other companies tend to add elements (story, character) Circa's work is a stripped back circus of the heart. It finds new emotional landscapes inside what is generally considered to be a spectacle. With work that has toured to 22 countries across five continents in the past three years, it works across cultures, audiences and venues. It’s the appeal of something that is skilful but hasn’t forgotten that to be human is, in the first instance, to feel.

The Flood. The sheep farm is now dilapidated. The farm house, dark and squalid, still sits by the river. A tiny rundown living room is lit by broken lampshades, throwing an uncertain light onto piles and piles of magazines, a life in wreckage, a mad old lady, and her isolated hard-drinking daughter. The memories are seeping through the floorboards. As the sun sets, the flood waters rise. The screen door bangs open in the soughing wind and rain, and Catherine returns home from London. Three women are now trapped in the house - a mother and her two estranged daughters; one who takes care of her, one who has been away for twenty years. Maude DAVEY & Caroline LEE play out the mesmerising terrible friction between bereft sisters in one sleepless night through alcohol, memories of their dead father and no way to get out. Shirley CATTUNAR is their mother, who can’t or won’t remember.

Against a vast dark painting of an Australian moonlit landscape - seen dimly through a veil of flywire - The Flood is brought to life by actresses who have won Best Actress again and again; starring in Cate Blanchett’s directorial debut at the STC (Lee), walking away with Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival (Davey), and, after 50 years in theatre, can’t keep up with the torrent of accolades (Cattunar); The Flood will seep in and affect forever.

But this time his dalliances are not going entirely to plan.

While escaping the house of one of his conquests, the virtuous Donna Anna, Don Giovanni is caught by her father the Commendatore and is forced to fight his way out. Donna Anna is devastated her beloved father is dead and her masked attacker is still at large.

Anna and Ottavio swear to avenge the Commendatore, but meanwhile Don Giovanni has set his sights on Zerlina, the lovely bride-to-be of local villager Masetto - and she doesn’t look completely unwilling! It’s time for a party, and some champagne to seal the deal.

But when you are leaving a trail of broken hearts and havoc all over Europe, it is going to catch up with you sooner or later. Something or someone sinister is waiting just around the corner for Giovanni. Has opera’s favourite bad boy finally met his match?

Beyond the Threshold presents "What A Man's Gotta Do" by Andrew Horabin Venue: Eastbank Centre, 70 Welsford Street, Shepparton
Contact Details:

Riverlinks Box Office (03) 5832 9511

Andrew Horabin is a state and national award-winning singer/songwriter with a one man comedy musical that asks, What’s a man gotta do to be a man in your town? In his hilarious show, Andrew uses comedy, song and storytelling to explore some of the issues of masculinity - sex, work, marriage, mateship, intimacy, fathering, feelings, booze, homophobia and attachments to motor vehicles.

Our story begins when Adam's Buck's Party collides with Lucy's Hens in the street.  Lucy declares that he'll never grow up. Adam protests. She gives him 24 hours to prove he's a man - or the wedding's off! Muzza and Gazza are not much help. They tell him she's just a sheila and sheilas change their minds. But she's not changing it back. And the hour of the wedding is fast approaching, leaving Adam asking "What's a man gotta do to be a man?"

With no formal initiation or rites of passage, these three young blokes must forge their own path into manhood. The audience helps, with their own ideas of how to become a man, but will it be enough? How lost will they get on the journey? What risks do they take in trying to initiate themselves? And will they make it back in time?

Audience Advice: Production contains adult themes and coarse language. Not suitable for people under the age of 16.
